Learning From A Cabbie

A couple weeks ago I was standing out on a cold evening in New York City waiting for a cab to come take me to a nightclub. After about 5 minutes of waiting, I was picked up by a middle-eastern gentleman in his 30's, and he was clearly angry. Swear words left and right about how horrible New Yorkers were. I knew my cab ride would only be about 10 minutes and there was a part of me that wanted to be silent and just move on with my life, but I also wanted to try and connect.

I asked the man what the issue was, and after some beating around the bush, he told me that he had just come from JFK airport without a customer. For those that don't know, this is basically $70 in lost fare, which is a fairly big deal. I tried my best to commisserate and share in his frustration. Over the course of that cab ride, what started as pure anger slowly shifted to inquiry. He mentioned that he had read an article a while back which said that the happiest people are the ones that give, so he hoped he'd have more chances to give in his life. I was really starting to enjoy being in the presence of this introspective man! We continued talking about why giving is so beneficial both to giver and receiver and different ways to practice it.

As we arrived at my destination, I paid my fare by credit card (with generous tip), but didn't want to stop there. I pulled out an extra $20 and said:

'sir, since we've been talking about giving this whole time, I wanted to share that feeling of giving with you. I've already paid my fare, but here's an extra little bit. you can keep it if you want, since you're already down $70 from jfk. But, if you want to experience the power of the gift, then tell the next passenger in this cab that their ride is a gift from another and they can share their gratitude in whatever way they wish.'

I thought I was being a pretty cool guy at this point! but that's when the cabbie blew me away. He turned toward me, tears in his eyes, and he says:

'sir, i have better idea. you give that $20 to a homeless person around here and i will gift the next passenger with free ride myself.'

wow. this man was literally yelling obscenities to me 10 minutes ago. i got out of the car and walked around for a bit trying to find someone to get a meal for before heading to my destination.

was an absolute honor meeting that cabbie and learning the lesson of how everyone is capable of giving and totally flooring another with their generosity.

Hmm... ten worlds??

Shay Day

This actually came in through the mail... thought it was a great story to share... and it's the only mail that I've forwarded so far... Cheers!

Two Choices

What would you do?....you make the choice. Don't look for a punch line, there isn't one.. Read it anyway. My question is: Would you have made the same choice?

At a fund raising dinner for a school that serves children with learning disabilities, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question:

'When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does, is done with perfection.

Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do.

Where is the natural order of things in my son?'

The audience was stilled by the query.

The father continued. 'I believe that when a child like Shay, who was mentally and physically disabled comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child.'

Then he told the following story:

Shay and I had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, 'Do you think they'll let me play?' I knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but as a father I also understood that if my son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.

I approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, 'We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning..'

Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. I watched with a small tear in my eye and warmth in my heart. The boys saw my joy at my son being accepted.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three.

In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as I waved to him from the stands.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again.

Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.

At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game?

Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact.

The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed.

The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay.

As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.

The game would now be over.

The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman.

Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.

Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's head, out of reach of all team mates.

Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, 'Shay, run to first!

Run to first!'

Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base.

He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.

Everyone yelled, 'Run to second, run to second!'

Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base.

By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball. The smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team.

He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head.

Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.

All were screaming, 'Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay'

Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, 'Run to third!

Shay, run to third!'

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, 'Shay, run home! Run home!'

Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team

'That day', said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, 'the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world'.

Shay didn't make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making me so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!

AND NOW A LITTLE FOOT NOTE TO THIS STORY:

We all send thousands of jokes through the e-mail without a second thought, but when it comes to sending messages about life choices, people hesitate.

The crude, vulgar, and often obscene pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion about decency is too often suppressed in our schools and workplaces.

If you're thinking about forwarding this message, chances are that you're probably sorting out the people in your address book who aren't the 'appropriate' ones to receive this type of message Well, the person who sent you this believes that we all can make a difference.

We all have thousands of opportunities every single day to help realize the 'natural order of things.'

So many seemingly trivial interactions between two people present us with a choice:

Do we pass along a little spark of love and humanity or do we pass up those opportunities and leave the world a little bit colder in the process?

A wise man once said every society is judged by how it treats it's least fortunate amongst them.

You now have two choices:

1. Delete

2. Forward

The Biggest Blunder

Earlier today, I was asked to lead the oath during assembly for the very first time.
Apart of me was nervous, Another part of me was happy to be able to play a role before I leave High School.
Right then I knew I only had a minute or two before the National Anthem ended.
I was rehearsing the oath repeatedly in my head.
I knew I got it all right and was ready. But things changed when I stood infront of the crowd, having a microphone right infront of my face, seeing the crowd waiting for a response. .
My mind just went blank!

And what may you ask was the biggest blunder I've made??

I said this very phrase, "Sila angkat tangan kiri untuk bacaan ikrar."

I soon heared laughter from the crowd but can't make of it.
And then a friend of mine whispered "Kanan, Rach, Kanan"
I then realise my mistake. In my head I was telling myself, "You know what? I'm going to finish what I've started & apologise for the mistake!"
And I ended the oath perfectly. . .

I guess at the end of the day what I'm trying to say here is.. If it wasn't for all the experience that I've gained and opportunities given to participate in the 5.5, To speak in a large crowd, to coordinate a group of new people, to be an emcee in a Hsd meet, to perform infront of people.. I wouldn't have been able to pull myself back up and finish it confidently.

So shall you all use this opportunity well for the upcoming 5.5 HSD Day, as this is only a stepping stone to many bigger challenges set infront of you.

Okay you can all go ahead and laugh now.. ^.^ Shall this enlighten your day.

A Story That Will Touch Your Heart

The story really touched me and I hope it will touch your heart too !
I was walking around in a Target store, when I saw a Cashier hand this little boy some money back.

The boy couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years old..

The Cashier said, 'I'm sorry, but you don't have enough money to buy this doll.'

Then the little boy turned to the old woman next to him: ''Granny,

are you sure I don't have enough money?''

The old lady replied: ''You know that you don't have enough money to buy this doll, my dear.''

Then she asked him to stay there for just 5 minutes while she went to look a round. She left quickly.

The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand.

Finally, I walked toward him and I asked him who he wished to give this doll to.

'It's the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for Christmas.

She was sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her.'

I replied to him that maybe Santa Claus would bring it to her after all, and not to worry.

But he replied to me sadly. 'No, Santa Claus can't bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my mommy so that she can give it to my sister when she goes there.'

His eyes were so sad while saying this. 'My Sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that Mommy is going to see God very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister.''

My heart nearly stopped.

The little boy looked up at me and said: 'I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the mall.'

Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me 'I want mommy to take my picture with her so she won't forget me.'

'I love my mommy and I wish she doesn't have to leave me, but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister.'

Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly.

I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy. 'Suppose we check

again, just in case you do have enough money for the doll?''

'OK' he said, 'I hope I do have enough.' I added some of my money to his with out him seeing and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money.

The little boy said: 'Thank you God for giving me enough money!'

Then he looked at me and added, 'I asked last night before I went to sleep for God to make sure I had enough money to buy this doll, so that mommy could give It to my sister. He heard me!''

'I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn't dare to ask God for too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and a white rose.''

'My mommy loves white roses.'

A few minutes later, the old lady returned and I left with my basket.

I finished my shopping in a totally different state from when I started.

I couldn't get the little boy out of my mind.

Then I remembered a local news paper article two days ago, which mentioned a drunk man in a truck, who hit a car occupied by a young

woman and a little girl.

The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical

state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the

life-sustaining machine, because the young woman would not be able to recover from the coma.

Was this the family of the little boy?

Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the news paper that the young woman had passed away.

I couldn't stop myself as I bought a bunch of white roses and I went to the funeral home where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wishes before her burial.

She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rose in her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest.

I left the place, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed for ever.. The love that the little boy had for his mother and his sister is
still, to this day, hard to imagine.

And in a fraction of a second, a drunk driver had taken all this away from him.

What have happened to Block 2 high spirited, noisy, enthusiastic, full of "nonsense" group?
Come on guys, you all need to spice up the year with full of interesting experience and facts E.g. - boy girl relationships tips, pimple treatment tips, hair tips, fashion tips, even lip sticks for man tips??? who knows, some bloc might be interested to know. hahaah.. but please be sensible and do not cross the line... You all can even use this blog to mock people from other blocks ^ .^..just a suggestions Danny and Andrea..ahahaha

From what I know the 5.5 HSD meet with be commencing soon.. Wow.. The sort of the most important event for HSD after year end trip =)

Well guys, especially to all the newbies and newly promoted PIC's, from where i source my information about HSD (the blog) had left me with much worries... Yes, I know there are examinations coming up, busy schedules for school activities, homework, etc etc etc.....
However, if we do not commit oneself to our positions we had been honoured, we are not carrying out our duties...

Our Tall tai kah cheh Teng, and our sai mui of the REAL Tai Kah Cheh = Ashley have been mugging on the "spam me" column saying, as quoted "Why is this blog so dead" shows that Block 2 has lost its spices and the sense of aura... our block is known for its innovations, creativity but yet crazy behaviors and also the "England" that we use to speak....

Come on people, crap somthing on the blog or even take pictures during your prep meet and post it up on the blog to show that block 2 is inching forward not stalling dead which what I've saw for the last 2 months... Most importantly show the members that the PIC/PTC are putting in effort on trying to spice up their life as well....

Ok enough said from melbourne... and just so you all know,, don't be jealous... Melbourne City itself is ONE BEAUTIFUL AND DELIGHTFUL city to be in...LOVE IT HERE.... ahahaha... as I said don't be jealous..

Hellow People,,,,,

Let us all take a deep breath of fresh air from 2008 and look forward to this years incoming activities and experience plus our mission. This year will be an interesting year all together as we start off the year with a holiday trip instead of a holiday at the end of the year (holiday for PIC/PTC only sorry members). Well...., this is the brilliance of Block 2 that we come up with intelligent yet foolish ideas to make our lives and most of all, our beloved members lives filled with colours and dimensions to look sort of "interesting".

Apart from the ideas that comes out from the people of Block 2, they consist of weird, unique, odd, unusual, in all shapes, sizes and features (fat, skinny, tall, short, hairy, small eye, big eye, big mouth, no mouth, etc, etc, etc) made Block 2 such a bizarre Block in the whole HSD of Selangor and I dare to say without my thoughts flowing through my mind, more bizarre than the ones in the KL region.

With these people coming together beautifying and flowering this block from a weak and fragile one to a family like atmosphere that bonded one another through happiness, success, failures, sadness and ofcourse minum teh session, which Made 2008 a short year but a year of memories that carries forth a lifetime to muse on.

Let me remind everyone that enjoyed 2008, do not stop there, continue to polish oneself and consistently carry out our daily Human Revolution and advance forward to be one day a Global Citizen. Besides one's own benefit, youth today should participate in the march towards the cause for World Wide Kosen-rufu and towards the struggle for World Peace, for Humanity.

Make 2009 a LEAP forward from what we did in 2008. For the newly elected PTC I welcome you to the family of what common mortals call weird and to the new proudly promoted PIC's, I congratulate you and honour the duty that YOU will be carrying out.

Hey comrades, are you ready to step into year 2009?
You have no choice but to say YES!
5 days to new year...have you ever ponder, what does 2009 mean to you?
Or...it is just another year to greet your n+1-th birthday?

To some, yeah...PMR, SPM, STPM...'dying' year. "Maybe i should make a deal with my father...one A how much should i get?"
I could remember, when i used to score straight As in UPSR, papa gave me RM2...muahaaha....mama gave me 50 bucks per A...but she tricked me to use up the money at the spa. I went to spa at age of 12 ..envy leh???hahahaha.
There is nothing wrong to think of monetary rewards because we are too young to understand the unseen benefit from study hard.

Hope this is still happening to young girls these days...or dating started in primary school maybe...am i outdated, i think i'm not that far from teenage life hor?
Or guys...gangsterism? or you've your plan for the future already?
I remember during my first month in secondary school...we were asked of our ambition...so many ppl wanted to be an engineer...and in my mind...pls dun laugh, i was busy asking myself..."What is engineer?"...muahahaha. but don't laugh, you see, so many engineers these days. Life is actually so easy that if you built your dream since young and persevere through, you get what you want. I believe many ppl are like me in those day...my ambition fluctuate. One day i wanted to be an air stewardess, another day i want to be a judge...
I'm glad that at a young age, i committed seriously into Nichiren Daishonin's buddhism. Eventually know how to find my mission in this life. And whoop...am contributing to nation building through education...sounds noble or, outdated? hahaha. My company send me to japan wan leh...outdated pun jadilah...haha. But i find my job fulfilling and challenging.
So it is definitely the best occupation for me at this very moment.

Everybody has turning points in his/her life. But once we turn shall we fly or shall we dive...? Which would be the best road? The one that you chose will definitely be the best as long as we travel it with faith, study and practice.
Not many ppl in this world can be as fortunate as us to meet the Nichiren Daishonin's buddhism at such a young age. Do you believe you will hungry if you don't eat? Then you believe there is cause and effect...then you believe in the manifestation of karma. Something in your pastlife has brought you to this buddhism in this lifetime. Therefore, make the best out of it.

There is nothing absolute in our life. Change is the only constant in life. Do you agree?
Therefore, at this very final week of year 2008, sit back and analyse yourself. Review of everything has been done, enough or is there rooms for improvement? Plan for a 2009 which you could proudly show off to the person inside the mirror. (You know who you see in the mirror right?)

There was a myth, saying that every night at 12am, in front of the mirror, if you could peel the apple without breaking the skin into pieces, then you will see your life partner in the mirror.

Hey people! I'm here today to tell all of u a joke(its actually a TRUE STORY)... =]

Once upon a time, there was a Princess who loves to bath in the sea near the beach. So, the rumour went out and there was a guy name BIY GNAAK who wanted to see the Princess NAKED. But the clever BIY GNAAK knew that if he just went to the beach and see, the Princess could see him as the beach was usually empty. So, he decided to hide in the sand(camouflage) before the Princess went to bath in the sea.

As the Princess was getting out from the sea, she saw a SHORT and THIN mushroom growing between 2 rocks on the beach. She was surprised as that was the 1st time she saw a mushroom grown on the beach. She wanted to pluck it to bring it back to the palace and show it to her dad, the king. But no matter how hard she tried to pluck, the mushroom just couldn't come out. She was disappointed and went back to her palace.

The guy, after experiencing such exciting yet painful experience was overly joyful and decided to go back to his village to tell everyone just to show off. When the guys from the village found out, they decided to do the same thing too.

So, once again the Princess finished bathing and went to the shore and this time, she was surprised as there were more mushroom that day.But she knew that the mushrooms can't be plucked. So, she said to her servant "cut all this mushroom and bring back to the palace as souvenirs"

Being with Children!

There was a Shonembu meeting on 27th Sept 2008, Sat. It was a collaboration with some HSD youth and the WD's to handle the meeting. I was part of it. =)

Handling a meeting with the Shonembu was a mind blowing event, as I saw so many differences with the HSD group and the Shonembu's, even the ones who are going to graduate from Shonembu to HSD. Mind me, especially the ones who are going to graduate to HSD. They are desperately mischievous! MY GOODNESS ME!!!!!

However, there is always a plus side in the everything. The plus side, they are more spontaneous in the meeting, where as, the HSD are more reserve. In the meeting I was the one who share my experience with them, hoping to be able to inspire them, but in the end it became a night market. They were all adding stories to my experience, the WD were all shaking their heads, Choy Yee, Kaang Yib and MnX were all laughing their heads off. This shows that they are actively participating in the meeting. Unlike the HSD again, "very good listener". MY GOODNESS ME!!!!!

After the meeting, it strikes me that was I that bad before? They were BIG bullies!!!. All in all, it was a great and tiring night.

Greetings to all,

More often than not, we the youth (sadly) become too engrossed in our own life. We tend to adopt an inward looking attitude rather than outward looking perspective. In other words, only caring for our own selves and immediate family members (and probably those who we try to pikat lol) and not giving a thought or two to the world around us. Don’t believe me? Well, go ahead and check around your friends’ blogs… It is either that they will dwell on the boring parts and pieces of their life like ‘what I ate today’ or even ‘who and who got together’ in the institution where they study. 80% will actually relate on the daily happenings of their life which typically reflects a typical teenager’s way of living. Sounds familiar? Sounds pathetic? I know it sounds boring to me.

Come on guys! That’s so ancient way of living! We should now no longer be distinguished by nationalities for we are now “world citizen”. Whatever we do should be for the betterment of humanity, the recovery of Mother Nature and the survival of the planet that we call home. That should be the way of youth. The recent Peace Proposal Forum 2008 expose us to the possibilities of solutions in three major branches of saving the world. The first being “protecting the ecological integrity of the planet”, the second would be “protecting human dignity” and the third “building infrastructure of peace”.

I think when it comes to protecting Mother Earth; there is sufficient awareness of the cause of pollution and also the effects of the pollution if we are not to do something about it. However, we are still using plastic bags widely even when we know we should be resorting to recycling bags especially for grocery shopping. We still turn on the air-con even when we know that it contributes to the widening of the ozone layer. What does this tell us? All talk and no actions! We write in our karangan for exams and we learned it in science and yet we do nothing about it. Hence, let us ACT upon it.

As for protecting human dignity, do you all know that women are still stoned to death in the third world countries? And do you all know what is so unfair about it? The reason the women are stoned to death is because they have been accused of ‘marital affair’ when in reality their abusive spouses force them to sell their bodies in order to earn a living. Next shocking news (don’t faint)… I know many of us heard before of male circumcision, what about female circumcision? Yes! There’s such a thing going on and mind you, it is by far the worse abuse that a girl has to put up with. Not only do the gals in the third world country have to deal with the pain of the act but also the fear of death as most of the tools used are not sterilized hence causing them to die of infection. Also, not forgetting that many children out there are still deprived of the basic necessities of life such as food, clothing and shelter and here we are proclaiming our mobile phones as a basic necessity of life.

What about peace? As long as I have constant money supply (from parents…Duh!), friends that think that I’m cool and also a girlfriend or boyfriend, then my world is very peaceful. Is that the way it should be? Do you all realise that there is almost a full blown war going on between Russia and Georgia? (for once, try watching CNN instead of Disney) The answer to all these is simple. Dialogue. That’s what President Ikeda is propagating. That’s what we should help to achieve.

At the end of the forum, the one revelation that struck me the most was that of the role of youth. Youth plays a vital and important role to ensure human survival in a planet which we still can call home and fellow comrades which we still can address as ‘humans’. It is the time now to speak up and not later. It is the time now to demand a better future for ourselves and not later (for we may not have one). It is the time now to act and not later. Most importantly, it is US and not somebody else. For if it’s not us, then who else? So lets keep our fingers crossed that a campaign will be approved and all of us are able to work on it yeah! Let us all be heroes of the world! We do not need any particular extraordinary power to be heroes… only the compassion to save the world will suffice. Hence, superheroes… let us all ACT with dialogue as our weapon. Peace!

Hey guys...sorry been busy lately with my work. One of the eight winds i guess. Was swayed away by greed for authority. But no worry, my intention is for good purpose. Just that I had not planned well and wanted to achieve instant result. Childish thought!

Seems like I've been very laggin with what is happening around huh...why dun update me wan geh? Heard that you all had been chatting online...I used to be a frequent messenger kaki wor, but people used say once started to date, one will slowly stop from playing messenger. However, this is not my case, i was busy with work...you know, my company work for World Peace!

I've just read the latest post by MNX and partial from Monkey, am very glad that we are so involved. Hope that this will not be momentary joy, but a stable force which will keep our momentum going no matter where we end up to be, life must go on!

Alright...my homework is as follows:
Though this may be short(i find that it is actually not after i finish typing) but it had been lingering in my mind for quite some time. Aside from ecological integrity of the planet and building peace infrastructure, i was deeply struck by the second area of the proposal, that is Protecting Human Dignity.From my understanding, this topic simply means to respect each other. As the topic is well defined as to protect human rights, to many people, it means to take care of their own rights and protect the piece of share they should get from the earth in which they reside instead of in the course of all human.
For instance, we can see from the recent issue of fuel hike. There are a lot of reports claiming about the much money that our government has siphoned into their own pocket. Then we see a lot of observer who tends to be very updated with this issue voice out their dissatisfaction. I'm not here to discuss about government policy but to analyse how the people around us think. This colleague of mine likes to comment a lot on the politics, bad government, our country being oil exporter with highest fuel price, etc. What you guess would be his next comment? It's towards his dissatisfaction towards the company. Poor management, slow increment, a lot of BS, no value, bla...bla...bla...Yet you know what he does? He has a personal company out there which he planned to take up the business of my current company. And so he whine about the company for cheating him. And so he whine about Malaysias Government does not return the crude oil money that belongs to the country he resides.
Bare in mind, I am not discussing about politics but how one person carry himself to talk about human rights when he is not actively participating in upholding it. (why my sentence sound so complicated?)
What I mean here is for us to reflect our self before we point our fingers to the others.
If we wanna talk about protecting human dignity without being an examplary individual for others, then we would bound to fail. To really understand the importance of human dignity is when we uphold justice and practice the correct way of living. We can always achieve this through living the Buddha way. To have compassion and wisdom to think of all human instead of only individual welfare.
If we are living our lives in a negative lifestyle which go against justice, rigthteousness, then we ourselves have no dignity.
So shall we ask if we are true to ourselves?
What has been proposed in the peace proposal would be a concrete methodology to uphold human dignity.
But before we could carry out the mission, we need to change the mindset of people around us to start respecting other's from a positive point of view. As Malaysian are majority with selfish thoughts for themselves, as fellow citizen, it is very important for us to open up everybody's heart to think from the view of others. We shall learn to be more loving, accepting others weaknesses and learn to praise more and utmost sincerely. Then we can carry on to Protect Human Rights positively from a broader perspective.
What is deeply rooted in my entire sharing is about human revolution that we should practise in order to convince ourselves that human right can be protected when we are protecting the human right of all human instead of for the safeguard of one person.

Lately i have been thinking of a 'Never say 'NO'' campaign for our fellow Block 2 comrades. As replying with the word 'NO' is in fact a very disencouraging response. Most often it will hurt others or maybe create misunderstanding. We shall learn to give a better response such as, "This idea may be good, but one negative consequence I could think of is..."
Yeah...it become more 'cheong hei' but it shows sincerity in taking into consideration of others' ideas, suggestion and thoughts. Then trust, respect and harmony come into place. We start to think from other's perspective.

Wow, how could i be so long winded. Maybe the above sharing is more on personal view rather than elaborating PP, hopefully you guys could reach to this particular point where I should thank you for the patience to read my post.

P²=(P)(P) Peace Proposal 2008

Hello Babas and Babes once again,

Acherly, after listening to the PP 2008, I felt that the topic of protecting the ecological integrity of the planet really leaved an impact on me. I believe that what we might be facing in the next few years (or maybe decades) is actually going to be a reality. If anyone of you watched the National Geographic programme on Sunday night(PP day, 3/8) 9 p.m. Preserve Our Planet: Six Degrees Could Change The World, I'm pretty sure that what our MONKEY spoke about an increase of 6.4 degrees in temperature will somehow be known as DOOMSDAY! Well, why this topic really made an impact on me is not just because I LOVE EARTH, but also because I want to make others LOVE EARTH too! For those of you who didn't get a chance to watch the programme, here is the link www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=NationalGeographic&search_query=sixdegrees . The video is broken up into parts so watch from 1 degrees onwards... So, I think WE, as youths, the ones which are holding the key to the future, let's rise and follow these few rules of saving the environment and reducing our carbon footprint (I'll ask Taiko and Taikache and see if we can make it compulsory for the whole block 2 to follow these few rules.....jangan marah yer...) :

Use ONLY 7 plactic bags a week (maybe can decrease until ZERO), whether it's to the market or shopping complexes.
Take short baths( tak ya ler nak mandi 30 minit...bazir air tu) and turn off the tap whenever you are not using it. (statistics show that if you save around 5 mins of water while showering(everytime), you may save up to 50 litres of water a year)
RECYCLE!!!!
If you're going somewhere within walking distance, then walk,don't drive there!!!!!!

Well, these are the few rules I can think of right now, and I really hope that you guys will AT LEAST TRY to follow these rules, it is our future we are holding.

The Monkey that spoke about Peace! =)

IT was a bright Sunday afternoon, where the voice of Peace spoken through the voices of young thundering youth (kuanlee =)). The forum started out with, quite a low spirit, as the supporters of "PP" did not turn up. They were all having a feast on the famous Klang bak kut teh when their compatriot needed the utmost moral support before the forum. However, being the disciple of Ikeda sensei and being understanding as usual, i forgive them, as they turned up when the forum had already started 30 minutes in time (at least they turned up). As for me and my fellow speakers thundering the forum with great spirit and anxiousness, I was constantly distracted by the arrival of my fellow compatriot who were all late, as I was supposed to be serious and forceful during the forum, but they were all smiling at me that made me having difficulties conveying the forum in a serious manner "being serious + smiling = chaos ". DESPITE of the difficulties, kuanlee as the usual him held it with poise and composure throughout the forum. During the forum, my fellow compatriot "fats" / fatalie aka hippopotamus was showing off her "chinese hat, cute face" that was all in all making me lose concentration, as a matter of fact, it help me release my stress and be calm and "cool" in the event of the forum. The forum was quite a successful one as most of my compatriot understands what is going on in the forum. In addition to that, fellow block 2 compatriot, Shayne stood up with confidence (that made me hesitated) and shared his experience in 5.5 HSD day and share the thought of Itai Doshin as was translated magnificently by Nanny "Banyak badan, Satu otak". All in all, I am very proud of Block 2's support and attendance for the Peace Proposal. And here by conclude, with a summary of the peace proposal:

This year Peace Proposal by Dr. Daisaku Ikeda namely Humanizing Religion, Creating Peace, has taken emphasis on the most sensitive topic to date which is religion. It stresses on the slide towards fundamentalism ( a deep and totalistic commitment to belief and strict adherence to a set of basic principles) which is generally religion. This stresses on the mis-conception of people towards religion, where we are living for the religion. The peace proposal aim is to shift this mis-conception, to put religion to serve us and to keep our humanity, as to put humanism as the center stage of attention to serve us human. To shift all human mis-conception, working towards humanism, as it is what human beings should do, to serve human being itself.

In order to create this shift, we must engage ourselves in humanism. On the other hand, how do we engage? We must make use of our humanity to convey this message to work towards humanism, which is dialogue. As a true humanist, we must not lay back and sit tight in the midst of holding the slide towards fundamentalism, we must uphold combative humanism to oppose to anyone with evil thoughts in mis-used of principles to dis harmonize people.

Latter, the Peace Proposal stresses on these 3 main topics which is:

protecting the ecological integrity of the planet
upholding human dignity
creating the infrastructure of peace

Protecting the Ecological Integrity of the planet - we must all be on our feet now and take actions towards the ever degrading environment we are in now, where pollution is everywhere and Global Warming is fact. Global warming is the cause of many extreme whether events that are likely to happen more frequently which takes valuable human life. It is none other "you" to take up the responsibility to take positive action towards improving the environment because once mother nature is damage, there is no turning back.

Upholding Human Dignity - We must all be aware of our human rights first, where out basic needs must be taken cared of. Then we must all learn about Human Rights education which oriented towards human values. Values like cultural diversity, multilingualism in education, promoting peace and non-violence, sustainable development and life skills. It is an education system which teaches us to respect human dignity allowing the realization of peace and social cohesion.

Creating the Infrastructure of Peace - To create the infrastructure of peace, many treaties, agreements have to be signed in order to create order in the world. (**To know the many treaties and agreements please read the Peace Proposal on the topic Creating Infrastructure of Peace). As a conclusion, the young people hold the key to the future. Soka Gakkai's second president Josei Toda declared "The new century will be created by the power and passion of youth"

** To understand further I urge everyone to read the Peace Proposal as this is too simplified! hehe!!

Youth is the future of this world and we have a big responsibilities to make it a better place to live. Everyone should understand this quote 'Many bodies, one in mind’ and put it into practice. So everyone has the same goal ‘Peace’ in their mind and work towards it. What I agree in the peace proposal was the ‘3 Citizenship’ - Community, Nation, and World. From what I understand, community is where I live (Subang Jaya). Nation is where we all lives - Malaysia (Malaysia Lang). Lastly, is where everyone lives, our planet/world. Although we have different skin colours and speaks different languages, but we live in the same planet! Which mean, we should have this mind set ‘Many bodies, one in mind’ and ‘Peace’ as their goal to make the world a better place for everyone!

some of us attended the family day in the morning. the rest i suppose either they cant wake up or they had some transportation prob or so. :)
well, after that tai ko (ky) and tai ka jie (cy) decided to bring us all out for lunch.
erm.. i'm not sure where it was, but all i know is that it's some where in klang. right?
anwy, we ate BAK KU TEH!! guess what? during the family day, we were actually listening to a talk about HEALTH! and we still went for BKT :P
after arriving to the shop. the lady brought us to the other side of the shop, because it was burning hot infront. they took our orders, and we just set back and chillax while waiting.

few minutes later, our drinks came. and everyone was gulping down their drinks except jyesmie * busy learning maths from cy* and the next thing i know, jyesmie was trying to scream her lungs out, but cant. haha when i turn to look, i saw her holding up her straw and i realized that there were two flies or whatever that was in it. eww.. i actually felt like screaming though. so yeah we called the fella and told him, then he got her a new clean cup and straw.

we were practically waiting for our BKT for about.. ONE HOUR? gosh..
later on the lady asked us to move to the other side, and it felt so much better under the fan.
while they were serving us the food. we saw this man.. he had lost the upper part of his right hand, which is his fingers. amazingly, he was playing his harmonica with his right hand. and holding a bottle *filled with some cash given by those kind hearted people* on his left hand.

meanwhile, we were waiting for danny, wei fang and andrea to join us. i guess they were a lil lost some where :P but luckily they came in time to eat with us.

Hello, MNX here.....would like to say a few words.....I think that there is one phrase that really makes us reflect on how we live our lives everyday, here goes:

"Live today like there's no tommorrow"

I strongly agree to this phrase and I really hope that you do too.....We must live everyday, just as if tomorrow would never come, and make decisions without any regrets. Sigmund Freud once said "For the small matters trust your mind, the big ones, trust your heart" and with this piece of wisdom, we shall make decisions or choices in life without any regrets.
